Menu Plan Monday: October 5-11
After being at the Austin City Limits Music Festival for a couple days, I feel like I have no idea what happened last week. It was a blast, though. Going to such an event by yourself has ups and downs – you can do whatever you want without having to wait for someone else, but you’ve got no one (you know) to talk to while waiting for the next band to start or while eating. Oh, the eating. ACL has some awesome food. On Friday I had a Love Burger from the Love Shack, based in Fort Worth. If you’ve been watching Top Chef this season, guest cowboy judge Tim Love is the owner of Love Shack. Anyway, it was good. Saturday I had a chicken and avocado cone from The Mighty Cone/Hudson’s on the Bend, which was awesome. Coated and fried avocado is amazing. And to think that before we moved to Texas I didn’t like avocado at all.
One reason I allowed myself to be a glutton on the weekend is that tomorrow I’m starting the Quantum Wellness Cleanse, in which you cut out gluten, caffeine, sugar, animal products, and alcohol for 21 days. It is supposed to help retrain your eating habits and taste buds, which would really help a junk food addict like me. I’ll still be cooking “regular” foods in the meantime, since I have recipes I need to work on and of course the boys aren’t doing the cleanse.
Monday: Pasta salad (mine will be made with quinoa pasta)
Tuesday: Grilled cheese, roasted vegetables for me
Wednesday: Apple smothered pork chops, polenta cakes with vegetables
Thursday: Di san xian (stir fried eggplant, potatoes, and green pepper)
Friday: Pizza, salad
Saturday: Pumpkin chili
Sunday: Falafel
Check back the rest of the week for recipes! I’ll also be posting the beef and green bean stir fry we had last week, as well as a couple surprise recipes.
