This past weekend, I was here:

On the trail

OK, technically not there, but I was at 7,000 feet in the San Bernadino Mountains, attending the first-ever Camp Blogaway, a retreat for bloggers.

It was so much fun! Not only did I meet a lot of fantastic bloggers, but there were interesting and useful panels covering everything from cake decorating to SEO optimizing. And of course there was food!

Friday Dinner

In addition to our regular meals that featured onions and olives (The National Onion Association and Lindsay Olives were just two of the sponsors of camp), there were also a-ma-zing homemade s’mores provided by Casey of Tastestopping and RegionalBest.com. And wine, of course. And more kiwi than you could ever have imagined!

I’ll be posting some in-depth recaps, but here’s a list of how we spent our weekend:

  • Cake Decorating Workshop & Contest by Wilton (I won the cookie division!)
  • PR Panels with reps from Sur La Table, Lindsay Olives, The Mushroom Channel, The National Onion Association, Fleischman-Hillard, Wilton, and Zespri Kiwifruit
  • Photography Tips and Workshop with Art Ramirez
  • Recipe Writing tips with Barbara Ostmann
  • Food Styling with Denise Vivaldo
  • SEO Optimization with Danny Jauregui of Food Bloggers Unite!

So, when is next year’s Camp?
