It turns out that 9 a.m. is already too hot to be running in Austin. Good thing my normal runs will be at 5:30 a.m., right? Ha.

Today was the first day of the challenge! Of course, as it was a holiday for Americans I wouldn’t be surprised if you decided to not start today. No sweat – you just need to run 3 times a week with a break in between each day. I decided to do Monday-Wednesday-Friday just because I know the odds of doing it on the weekend are even less than during the week!

I’m happy to say that I pushed myself to complete the full workout today. The other times I have tried the program I couldn’t do the entire thing the first day, but I was determined. I got a bit of heat rash (I think that’s what it is…) after a few minutes but I worked through it and the itching went away, thankfully. Then of course the sun was in my face … I might have to pull out my Camp Blogaway visor to make sure I don’t go blind and keep my face unburned!

How did it go for you?

I more or less started today but instead I did race walking for 20 minutes. I am currently trying to beat my current time of 13 minutes.

  2. When I lived in Austin, I picked up the running habit. How could I not? Running at Town Lake year-round was phenomenal. Although, I did have a few bouts of heat exhaustion in the summer. Look forward to following your training.
