Whiskey + Salami = Love {A Father’s Day Giveaway}

This is sort of becoming a salame blog. Not really on purpose of course, but when companies contact me about salame, I can’t help but jump up. Another post will be coming soon about an amazing meal I had at The Carillon and a dish it inspired, but right now we’re going to talk whiskey.

When I turned 21, for some reason my drink of choice was whiskey and cola. Nice and sweet, and since I was 21, pretty strong. It also impressed the guys I dated and confused the waiters, which was a constant source of amusement for me.

These days I don’t drink much whiskey, but I still like it in other applications, especially in baking or cooking meat.

So when Creminelli contacted me to see if I wanted to try their new Whiskey Salami, I jumped. It’s made from Texas wild boar and High West Son of Bouyre whiskey – the whiskey provides a layer of flavor that doesn’t taste “alcoholic”, but really brings out the boar. It’s sort of like eating champagne with strawberries, but with meat.

Creminelli is letting me give away one of their Wild West gift sets, just in time for Father’s Day! The set contains one Wild Boar salami and one Whiskey salami, and is packaged in a wooden box that is the perfect size for playing cards, poker chips, or other Dad things… or you can steal the box and make it into a small herb planter, like I’m doing. Pair the salami with some good pickles (and maybe a bottle of whiskey?) and you’re set for being the most popular kid at Father’s Day.

    We love Creminelli! There’s a local cheese shop that sells an apricot and cumin spread. Fresh baguette, a sharp cheddar or gruyere, Creminelli and that spread – I’m in snack heaven.

    I’m not a dad, and I only drink a little whiskey, but that wild boar salami looks stunning. Win a box or not, I’m going to check it out… it looks like Antonelli’s and Central Mkt have it.
