Stuff Your Stocking Giveaway

Giving gifts is one of my absolute favorite things to do. If money wasn’t an issue, I’d be one of those people dropping gifts in the mail for everyone I know and hand-delivering packages all over town. I know a lot of people think the phrase “better to give than receive” is trite, but I really feel that way. Choosing items I think friends and family will love and appreciate is important to me, and I always keep my eyes open for the perfect gift.

My favorite things to pick out are stocking stuffers. When I was a kid, our stockings were mostly stuffed (and I mean stuffed) with chocolate bells and peanut butter cups, and sometimes I’d get another stocking at my grandparents’ house with an orange and one of those Lifesavers books. I actually don’t like Lifesavers, but there’s something about those holiday books that have earned a special place in my heart.

Stocking stuffers are great because you can cover a wide range of interests in one tidy package, from book lover to home cook to Lego-obsessed kindergartner. I always like to stick some special chocolates in my husband’s stocking, and my older son gets a kick out of giving everyone underwear. Sure, underwear isn’t exciting, but it’s more the fun of unwrapping something and knowing you’re loved.

Everyone could use a little extra love this holiday. So I’m giving away two mystery gift boxes! They’re packed with an assortment of goodies for you to enjoy yourself, or re-gift to someone else who needs some cheer.

To Win Mystery Box A, leave a comment on this post and share what you’d really want for a gift this year.

To Win Mystery Box B, head over to Facebook and leave a comment on this post.

One winner will be drawn from each pool, but you can’t win both boxes, sorry! Open to all residents of US and Canada. This giveaway isn’t sponsored – it’s just brought to you by me! Winners will be drawn on Sunday, December 8 so I can get the boxes in the mail to you in time for Christmas.

Good luck!

What I REALLY want is an engagement ring, but we made a deal that it wouldn’t be a Christmas present because that’s really high on the cheese factor!

It would be nice if I actually got things in my own stocking; since I do most of the gift shopping, that part gets forgotten by the rest of the family. So this year I’m going to go ahead and do it myself. ;)

I’m hoping for a sewing machine. I just moved into a new home and have some sticker shock at the cost of things like curtains and pillow covers, so I want to try making my own.

What I want is a chance to talk with my dad, to really listen to him, and to tell him things that I should have said. But since that is as possible as world peace (in my lifetime), I would like to have a good sit-down meal with family and friends in a lovely outdoor setting, with great cooking and wines. Merry Christmas.

I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to get a piano. While this is totally impractical because we move so often, I’m still secretly hoping for a really nice keyboard so I can play again as well as start to teach the boys.

I would love a dishwasher for my family! I hate washing dishes, and we always have a pile on the counter waiting to be washed.

I would love a dehydrator- I’ve asked for it for 3 years now-so I’m hoping Santa will get a hint and come through this year. If not, I’m pretty darn happy just to be able to have my family all together for dinner.

I would love a budget to redecorate the living room, or a steamer vac to clean my kitchen (so boring but practical!) or a hanging pot rack!

For a gift this year, I think that I would just LOVE a deep clean of my house!!! It’s clean, but it’s an old house. I’d love it to just be sparkling – easier to upkeep!! Oh, and some jeans.

I’d really like some time to myself with no interruptions! That’s what my son and husband gave me for my birthday and it was lovely.

What a lovely idea Megan so of course you would do it!

What I want for Christmas? I want to be in my new home by then. I don’t care if I can only get a simple lit tree up in one room and one batch of cookies done in my new (like yours!) stove. I just want to be there. I need my own home again.

    Merry Christmas!

I’d love a 2- or 3-qt. All Clad saucepan. But I’d be happy with some wooden spoons and maybe Ottolenghi’s Jerusalem cookbook.

I would really like a dedicated meat grinder and sausage stuffer. The Kitchenaid attachment worked well for a few pounds but now that I am making more I need to upgrade to something that is made for what I am doing.

I haven’t even made my Christmas list yet! I have most everything I need… except I still have an iPhone 4 and keep thinking about buying a new one but just haven’t… so maybe a new phone? Also I’d love a nice new running vest from Lululemon if I can find one!
