Texas Conference for Women 2015 – Join Me!

September 17, 2015 / Austin

Today I’ve partnered with the people behind the Texas Conference for Women to tell you about this inspiring yearly event.

Texas Conference for Women 2015

I’ve been wanting to attend this conference for a few years but have never made it work with my schedule. Even though I’m a freelancer, my other job title of Mom means that during the school week, I need to hunker down close to home. This year, however, the year I’ve dubbed “Megan fixes up her life,” I decided I needed to make it a priority to attend.

The Texas Conference for Women is not a typical blogger-style conference — it’s full-on professional inspiration, with workshops and keynotes featuring some of the industry’s best. Attendees from all over the state come to learn about leadership practices, taking risks with careers, maneuvering through the ever-changing social media world, and more. There’s even a special section just for high schoolers. Who couldn’t have used a few lessons on being strong and confident when we were 17?

I’m looking forward to the keynotes from a few women I admire:

  • Patricia Arquette, actress and founder of GiveLove, a charity created to help provide victims of the Haiti earthquakes with sustainable housing and rebuilding assistance
  • Robin Roberts, co-anchor of Good Morning America, author, and inspiration to those battling cancer, disease, and everyday difficulties across the country
  • Candy Chang, artist and senior TED fellow, creator of the Before I Die street art movement

Plus, there are lots of foodie-focused speakers as well, including Hot Dang founder Martha Pincoffs, qui and East Side King co-owner Deana Saukum,  and lifestyle blogger Camille Styles.

Now in its 16th year, the Texas Conference for Women is a nonprofit, nonpartisan event designed to encourage, inspire, and provide opportunities for professional growth. No matter where you are in your career journey, this is sure to be a great day!

I’ve had this on my to-do list for months! There are some really great small-business focused panels and workshops later in the day that I would love to get in on!
