Hi, I’m Megan Myers, and I’m the creator behind Stetted! I’ve been blogging here since 2006, and I’m so happy you’ve found your way to my online home.

I didn’t learn how to cook from a school or my family, but through trial and error, cookbook reading, and paying attention to the seasons.

After graduating from the University of Minnesota with a degree in journalism, my husband and I moved to Texas, where we raised our family for 15 years. During the pandemic we moved back north and have now settled in Bloomington, Illinois, with our two sons, two cats, and a dog.

Experience

  • Former recipe editor for Texas Co-Op Power Magazine
  • Former contractor for Whole Foods Market Global Marketing team
  • Previous publications include Hobby Farms Magazine, Edible Austin, Simple Bites, and Recipe.com (a former publication of Dotdash Meredith)

I’ve been blogging for nearly 2 decades — I’ve seen trends come and go throughout that time. Instead of chasing those trends, I’ve spent my time learning about ingredients, techniques, and how flavors work together.

7 Facts about megan

  • I live in an 1880s Queen Anne we purchased sight-unseen during the pandemic.
  • I love planning, organizing, and making spreadsheets. If we travel together, there will probably be a spreadsheet!
  • Canning is one of my favorite cooking projects. I have multiple small-batch recipes for jams and pickles so I can have a variety on hand at all times.
  • My husband and I met in Hebrew class in college, but neither of us is Jewish.
  • I garden in what I call an “organized chaos” method, meaning I plan everything out and then forget to tend to it and hope for the best.
  • My favorite movie is Amelie. I watch it whenever I need a good, beautiful cry.
  • I don’t eat oysters and avoid olives and mushrooms (though you might see them sneak into a recipe or two thanks to my recipe testers).
