At Home with At Home: Getting Ready For a Patio Overhaul

Patio Overhaul - Before

Things are looking a bit messy in my yard these days. It’s not just the spring showers that have blown through and left leaves and seed pods everywhere — our outdoor space is in dire need of an overhaul. I couldn’t be more thrilled to be partnering with At Home for this perfectly timed project!

Spring is the perfect time to take care of this, especially for my family this year. We’re gearing up to put this house on the market, and everything needs to look picture-perfect to entice new buyers. And why not make that space more inviting for ourselves, while we’re at it? I can’t think of a better way to close out 9 years in this home than spending tons of time enjoying our yard.

Taking some inspiration from the HGTV Spring House, I’ve been putting a critical eye on the two back patio sections we need to fix up. Color is a must — I love to use vibrant colors inside and out (like in my coffee bar area) but all I can see in these two photos is drab brown! I’m already drawn to greens and blues, so the fact that those are big in outdoor decor this year will be a huge advantage once I start shopping for the perfect pieces.

The table we have has good bones, so I plan to just apply a bit of DIY labor to spruce it up again, but I’m really hoping to find some great chairs and colorful cushions to make the space pop. Those chairs we have are OK, but would be great with cute outdoor pillows. My husband is also keen on getting a bench for the table, to ensure we have seating for guests. We also have an empty umbrella stand from our sad, broken table umbrella, so I hope to find a great replacement.

The second patio area is just off the house, and we use it for our grill and small plants. As you can see, pretty much all the plants are dead, and our makeshift plant stand is falling apart. The At Home website has lots of options for plant stands and other decorative pieces, so I hope to make this a cute, welcoming area that invites you outside.

Stay tuned to see what I pick up at At Home and the big reveal! Are you looking to update your outdoor spaces for spring? I’d love to hear your choices for new decor!
